The Art of Chau Hang

CHAU HANG was born in 1962 in Guangzhou, China. During his childhood, Chau was inspired and trained by his father, Mr. Zhou Zhi Yi, in Chinese painting. In 1983, he moved to Hong Kong and continued further study under Professor Chao Shau An (1905–1998), an internationally renowned Chinese painting master, who is also his grandfather. Chau obtained a “Higher Certificate in Illustration” awarded by the Hong Kong Polytechnic in 1988. Mr. Chau's paintings were acquired by the Chinese Museum, Melbourne, Australia in 1995, exhibited in the 11th Exhibition on Modern Chinese Flower-and-Bird Paintings in 1996, and acquired by the Shanghai International Culture Association in 2008. He was a visiting artist in a series of events sponsored by the government and private institutions including the InvestHK, the Urban Renewal Authority and the Hong Kong Childhood Injury Prevention & Research Association to promote awareness in foreign investments, community redevelopment and childhood safety in Hong Kong between 2001 and 2004. In 2006, Mr. Chau published a bilingual guide to Chinese paintings for beginners, “Happy Brush”, in co-operation with the University of Indianapolis (US).
